CUHK Business Lecture series – Shared value beyond responsible business
We recently had a remarkable opportunity to inspire and empower future generations of corporate leaders at CUHK Business School. 200 students from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) attended the captivating Business Lecture titled “Creating Shared Value (#CSV): Beyond Responsible Business”. This thought-provoking seminar left participants feeling inspired and motivated, showcasing the immense potential of CSV to drive economic growth and improve social conditions within their communities.
Reshaping Business for Environmental Impact: Interface’s Sustainable Transformation
The course had a transformative impact, with over 90% of students expressing that it has shifted their perspective on future business opportunities. Our CEO, Virginie Ostrowski, kicked off the event by introducing the concept of shared value. Following that, Virginia Wilson, SVIHK Senior Executive Advisor, shared an enlightening case study on Interface, a global carpet manufacturer that successfully transformed its culture and business fundamentals to reverse environmental impact.
Fireside Chat: Overcoming Barriers and Embracing Collaboration
Denise Wong, Barclays Managing Director & co-Head of Sustainable Banking Group, delved into the organization’s strong commitment to green and sustainable finance through strategic partnerships with clients on their transition journey. Reflecting on the experience, a Year 4 CUHK Student Ambassador who was inspired to pursue a career in sustainability after attending the seminar two years ago, encouraged her fellow students: “Be more proactive! Do not hesitate to ask questions, connect with professionals and explore your interests; the professional community will always be there to provide help and advice”.
