On 27 Nov., we convened CREATIVE COLLISION 2019, our first non-conference and largest tri-sector event yet, bringing together business, civil society, public sector and social innovation leaders to spark Shared Value action. More than 130 people attended, not counting volunteers (our de facto youth delegates), well exceeding our expectations. This was the first time we truly brought together our business community with our social innovation partners and public followers, with resoundingly positive feedback.
G For Good believes doing good is a fundamental value and aims to reinject purpose into business, a subsidiary of New World Development, co-founded by Adrian Cheng and Garrick Lau, G For Good advocates and supports various social innovation projects, including to provide resources in discovering, developing and incubating social entrepreneurial projects, organise conferences and workshops to spread Creating Shared Value in the community.
On World Mental Health Day on 10 Oct. 2019, corporate Members of Shared Value Initiative Hong Kong (SVIHK) announced a collective pledge to improve mental well-being in their workplaces and reduce stigma on mental health topics in Hong Kong. Pledging Members include Accenture, AIA Hong Kong, AXA, Barclays, EY, Nestlé, Tricor Group and The Executive Centre, representing prominent businesses in Hong Kong from diverse industries and with large workforces and customer bases.
It’s been five months since I began my journey with Shared Value. As an MBA intern, I had an invaluable opportunity to combinine my passion in Shared Value creation with my comprehension of business administration.
Hong Kong’s first Global Goals Jam took place last weekend, on 22-23 September 2018. The event was organised by Loftwork Hong Kong and SUSTAINHK, implementing a design thinking curriculum developed by The United Nations Development Programme and the Digital Society School (Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences). The event was hosted at nakedHUB New Street and MTRL HK (Loftwork’s creative lounge).
Last month, we convened eight diverse organisations to define a shared vision and high-level roadmap for tackling the mental health problem in Hong Kong, at a Vision-setting and Scoping Workshop delivered by Accenture.
MD Junior is a student-run nonprofit that mobilizes youth to bridge the Health Gap. Using a unique service-learning methodology for empowering youth in health, MDJunior is able to address pressing community health problems.
Finding purpose and making a contribution to society should not be limited to charity. Government, charities and foundations fill the gap and deliver services to those that cannot afford to pay for them.
